A classic recipe for delicious fried chicken.
Marinade
Breading
In a large bowl, combine buttermilk, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder. Add chicken pieces to the bowl, ensuring they are fully coated in the marinade. Cover and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or overnight for best results.
In a separate bowl, mix together flour, salt, pepper, paprika, and garlic powder to make the breading mixture.
Heat oil in a deep skillet or Dutch oven to 350°F (175°C).
Remove chicken pieces from the buttermilk marinade, allowing excess to drip off. Coat each piece thoroughly in the breading mixture, pressing lightly to adhere.
Carefully place breaded chicken pieces into the hot oil, working in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan. Fry for about 15-20 minutes, turning occasionally, until chicken is golden brown and cooked through.
Remove chicken from the oil and place on a wire rack or paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot and enjoy!
